Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, P.L.C. is pleased to announce that Ian R. King has been selected as our 2017 Diversity Legal Writing Program Scholar.
The Diversity Legal Writing Program provides second-year law students at Arizona State University with practical clerking experience in private law firms within Maricopa County. As a participant of the program, Mr. King has been offered the opportunity to clerk for JSH for the entire spring semester. In addition to gaining valuable clerking experience, the firm will also provide Mr. King with a $4,000 scholarship.
Mr. King will attend weekly training sessions designed to enhance his writing skills, teach him about the firm environment, and discuss practical tips for the practice of law. JSH Associate, Ashley Villaverde Halvorson, will be Mr. King’s mentoring attorney. Ms. Halvorson will mentor Mr. King by providing feedback regarding each of his projects in an effort to improve his legal writing skills. This is Ms. Halvorson forth year serving as JSH’s program mentor.
“As a member of both the JSH Diversity Committee and JSH Recruiting Committee, I have enjoyed serving as a mentor for this program and getting to know the outstanding student participants. We administer our program very similarly to our summer clerkship program, and have been fortunate to have a few program alumni in our associate ranks,” said Halvorson.
